How it works

We resolve the domain's A and AAAA records and, for each IP, query the regional Internet registry (ARIN, LACNIC, RIPE…) over RDAP to find which organization and network it belongs to. If the site uses a CDN such as Cloudflare, you'll see the CDN's IP rather than the origin server's, which stays hidden.

FAQ

Can I tell where a site is hosted from its IP?

Usually, yes: the network and autonomous system (ASN) point to the hosting provider. If it's behind a CDN, you'll only see the CDN.

Why does a domain have several IPs?

For load balancing and redundancy. CDNs and large services return several IPs and may change them depending on where the request comes from.
